“Cirilo Bautista was a bit difficult to understand at first , especially translating the poem into images.

For my visual elements, I drew out lines that gave a visceral feeling. The lines were all drawn on paper then rendered digitally. The imagery just acts as a supplement to the subtleties of the text.
I want its effect to be varied for the viewers. To be seen differently depending
on the event it is viewed/read.”

“The challenge was to capture the emotion expressed in every line. The text is very visually rich.
It allowed the mind to wander and sort of influence the other paintings I was making.

The pandemic gave me more time to draw so any form of work at this period is a source of comfort. ”
