“Habang binabasa ko sya parang naglalaro yung imagination ko
dahil sa way niya mag sulat. Pinili ko yung sentences na nakakuha
ng atensyon ko, natutuwa ako sa mga eksenang surreal na sinulat nya.”
(Reading Bautista fired my imagination because of the way he wrote.
I chose sentences that attracted my attention, I was pleased
with how surreal the scenes he wrote were.) “
BLIC is a street artist based in the Philippines, who often uses the motif of a personified human hand.
He enjoys involving the public in his practice, and through his hand motif, invites them to relate to his art. The hand is a symbol representing the public,
containing both a sense of universality as well as individuality. While hands are often a tool of universal communication, they are also unique
in their independent storytelling abilities.
Deriving his motivation from the attention, curiosity, and even judgement of the public, BLIC is a member of the artist-group Pilipinas Street Plan,
that helps bring the conversation of street art to a wider audience.
